Marketing Cycle – The Best Marketing Cycle

The Best Marketing Cycle

At the beginning of the last century, we conducted business on a very personal level. The marketing cycle was very close to the one we are proposing today. The completion of the loop ensured the profitability and longevity of the business enterprise.

Somewhere along the way the marketing cycle got lost. The emphasis was now centred on the side of acquiring new customers. We still see this today with businesses putting their whole attention on acquiring new customers with little to no concern for their existing customers. They also have the mistaken belief that it is all they need to do to grow their business.

Their marketing is often based around the traditional model of getting new customers by offering a lower price. Using just one side of the marketing cycle, i.e. traditional marketing is expensive. Not only is it costly but the yield is lower, putting undue pressure on sustainability and profit.

Traditional marketing

Traditional marketing while it is expensive is a necessary part of getting customers in the first place. It is five times more expensive to get a customer than to retain a customer. It does however •find prospects •acquires customers and • manages those customers. But it does have •high cost •high turnover and •the probability of sales is 5 -20%.

Relationship marketing

Relationship marketing on the other hand maintains customers and adds others to the list. It is up to 80% less expensive to keep a customer than to find a new one. A great upside is that referrals from that customer generally walk in the door at little to no cost. Relationship marketing •retains customers •generates incremental sales •refers more customers. It •lowers costs •lowers turnover •and the probability of sales is 60 – 70%.

Using these two together, you get a balanced situation. This takes care of and values your existing customers whilst acquiring new customers. It creates a more personal exchange making your customer feel more connected. They are more likely to remain loyal customers and refer you to their friends and associates.

By completing the marketing cycle, you have kept your customers in the loop. In my mind this is much better than abandoning them with linear traditional marketing.

It’s Really Hot Outside and Network Marketing Is Cool.

It’s really hot outside – that’s why we appreciate network marketing. We are able to hang out in air conditioned comfort and stay cool.

Just a tad under 49⁰C, 120.2⁰F – that’s really hot! I can’t recall ever experiencing a day this hot. Not at home anyway. To make matters worse, we haven’t had a day under 30⁰ for the last two weeks. Most nights have been in the mid to high twenties. That’s really hot. We are experiencing a record breaking hot spell. A heat wave so hot, you almost burn your bum on the toilet seat.

As you look around you can’t help but notice plants wilting. Birds are hanging around the ground in shaded areas. Animals are lazing under the trees. Not a lot is moving. We are hanging out in the office because it’s air conditioned. The best we can get in the house is fans moving the hot air around. It’s like an oven in the house and we don’t like being cooked.

Really Hot

It’s really hot and uncomfortable! But our life is quite comfy. Lounging back and sipping a cool drink, we got to talking. It’s on days like these that we are ever so grateful for the life we choose to live. These days we are professional network marketers and the company of our choice is SendOutCards.

Most outdoor workers are sent home, wisely. Many will not get paid during this down time. Some farmer friends of ours are lamenting the burning-off of their crops, causing massive losses. Many workers still have to suffer the conditions to ensure the running of our society. Some need to endure, regardless of conditions as their livelihood depends on their efforts.

Discussing those that had to work in such appalling conditions, we felt so grateful for our circumstances. We reminisced times in our own earlier lives when we had to toil in the hot sun to make our living. Network marketing allows us choices.

During this heatwave we have been able to take it easy and stay cool. Under the networking model your income can continue regardless of outside conditions. You have lifestyle freedom. You get to choose what you do and when and where. Network marketing has a lot going for it – especially when it’s really hot.

Airbnb our first experience.

Airbnb our first experience.

While booking everything for our trip to Salt Lake City for our company convention we decided to look at Airbnb. We had heard lots of good reports about Airbnb. As baby boomers this was a totally new concept for us.

In the past we had always just booked into a nearby hotel. We looked at the local hotels and prices, including a discount for booking through our company. After talking to friends we decided to take a look at Airbnb.

As we like to stay at places off the beaten track and a little different we found lots of quirky places on the website. We didn’t like the idea of share accommodation therefore we opted to search for an entire home. Most of these offered a condo, basement or small unit. One caught our attention, it was a standalone building that was a barber shop in a previous live.

Airbnb

Further research on Google Maps showed that it was a comfortable walk from our convention and downtown Salt Lake City. The price was also about 70% cheaper than all the hotels available.

Our Hosts.

While we were sorting out our last minute details, we contacted our host and were advised where to find the key. About an hour after arriving we ventured out to find some dinner. As we stepped outside a car pulled up and it was our host. She stopped and as well as chatting for a few minute she told us where there were a couple of good places to eat.

The next day our host’s husband called in to introduce himself and ask if there was anything we needed, he also left us his mobile number.  We couldn’t have asked for better hosts for our first experience with Airbnb. They were available if we needed anything and left us to ourselves.

Next time we travel we will definitely be looking at Airbnb for our accommodation.
